Ranger Jane Cummings

Jane Cummings has been a ranger and the Interpretive Chairperson at Wekiwa Springs State Park since August of 2017.  In this role, she has developed many community partnerships with local schools and provides students and educators quality programs that are in line with state education standards.  Her knowledge of the habitats, springs, waterways and environmental issues of Florida’s unique environment set a solid foundation for many educational interactions with visitors and students.

Prior to becoming a ranger, Jane taught environmental science for 15 years to various grade levels.  She always took a hands-on, questioning approach to guide her students to a greater understanding of the world around them.  Jane was the Science Department Head for a Kindergarten through twelfth grade school district and led monthly workshops to other educators on

STEM techniques and differentiated instruction.

Jane has a unique and enthusiastic way of engaging others, sharing information, and allowing the natural world to be discovered.  She is a knowledgeable guide, passionate teacher, and dedicated ranger.
